5 essential items to
take on a road trip
Organization is the key word before going on a road trip:
space must be optimized, you will not have room for superfluous accessories.
Here are our 5 favorite things to take with you on a road trip, to travel light
while being well equipped!
1 - An external
battery
Who says road trip also means reduced access to running
electricity. To charge your phone and continue taking photos or using your GPS
in peace, there's nothing like an external battery!
We recommend that you opt for a model with a capacity of at
least 20,000 mAh to be able to charge your smartphone up to 5 times. Some power
banks even have multiple USB ports to charge devices for the whole family at
the same time.
2 - A flashlight
Whether it is to read after dark, orientate yourself at
night or simply extend an evening under the stars, the flashlight is the
essential object par excellence when going on a road trip!
Our preference goes to the Energizer waterproof torch:
compact and light, it is not only resistant to shocks, but can also be
submerged up to 1 m without problem since it is waterproof. Small bonus: it
floats, and its reflective surfaces make it easy to find in the dark.
3 - A gourd
The reusable water bottle is an essential accessory to
reduce plastic waste, on a road trip as in everyday life. No more water
bottles, just fill your water bottle directly from the tap!
In simple stainless steel, solid color or patterned, with or
without a purifying filter, there are now a multitude of models. More and more
brands are also offering smaller, lighter children's water bottles that fit
easily into a backpack.
Our advice: always prefer a thermos flask. It will keep your
morning coffee or tea warm for several hours, but will also be very effective
in keeping water cool all day long: essential for hiking!
4 - A first aid kit
A cut, a light bulb or a bruise are quick to arrive on a
road trip, especially if you plan to go hiking during the day. It is therefore
essential to have a first aid kit on hand to remedy minor injuries.
You can compose your first aid kit yourself by slipping in,
for example, dressings, disinfectant, compresses and a few boxes of medicines,
but ready-made kits are also available in pharmacies.
If you're planning on spending a few nights by the water,
don't forget to slip mosquito repellant and soothing balm into your first-aid
kit!
5 - A multifunction
knife
Apart from the classic cutlery for eating, it is always
useful to have a versatile knife, such as Swiss army knife, handy when you go
on a trip. Combining a knife, corkscrew, screwdriver, can opener and even a
nail file, this multifunction tool is a must for your road trip to travel
light!
Be careful, however, to put it in your checked baggage if
you are going by plane: as small and practical as it is, a Swiss Army knife
will not be accepted in the cabin and you risk having it confiscated at
security control.
